The area in and around Luck provides plenty of recreational fun and entertaining all year round. From hunting and fishing, to an 18-hole golf course complete with country club, picnic areas and playgrounds, camping areas and organized community events, there?s plenty to do. The Gandy Dancer Trail includes more than 100 miles of hiking and biking trails in the summer. In the winter months, the trails are perfect for snowmobiling and cross country skiing. The town of Luck is right on Big Butternut Lake, nearly 400 acres in size with a maximum depth of 20 feet. As well as a great variety of aquatic sports, the Lake offers great fishing spots, with large mouth bass, northern pike, walleye and pan fish common catches. In season, hunters will find the area is perfect for deer, bear, fowl and small game animals. Education The Luck School District includes just two schools?Luck Elementary School (grades K-6) and Luck High School. Luck is located within 65 miles of several large colleges and universities, including Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, and the University of Wisconsin-Stout as well as institutions located in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Real Estate In 2007, Luck, WI real estate prices have dropped slightly, with listing prices ranging from $75,000 for a single bedroom residence to $200,000 to $300,000 for a three or four bedroom family home. The average list price for a Luck residence is around $215,000. Luck has grown fairly steadily over the century since its incorporation, with most decades seeing plenty of new residential construction. The Luck owner-occupancy rate is around 65%, and there are more studio and one-bedroom rentals in the town than many others of its size. Thanks to the great hunting, fishing and other recreational activities in the area, there plenty of seasonal vacation real estate in the area too. This means that Luck is a great place for investors to find rental real estate, as well as for home buyers to find their dream house.
